Beacon Press and the Pentagon Papers. The ebook is 59 pages long and is in the pdf format.
The release and publication of the "Pentagon Papers" was an important event in the history of America's involvement in the Vietnam War (
Wikipedia article on the "Pentagon Papers"). The government had published its version of the Papers, in 1971, just prior to Beacon Press' publication of the document (or set of documents, as the case may be). However, Beacon Press was the first private organization to publish it/them. As I understand it, this book discusses Beacon Press' role in the publication of the Pentagon Papers.
If you are like me and fuzzy on a lot of the history of the Vietnam War, this book will probably give you a lot of information, and insight on it. And, although Lyndon Johnson's Presidential term had already ended by the time of the Pentagon Papers, the book will also educate you on some of the goings-on in that administration.
It is important to the understanding of some of the information in the book that Beacon Press publishes under the auspices of the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations (UUA). That information is on the title page of the book, but it may not appear in the text itself.
