It's totally an individual experience/issue. I generally read on an eInk screen, but can read just fine on a decent tablet (especially if the brightness isn't cranked up) for hours too. Others have big problems reading on an LCD screen, while there have been a few posters who have had problems reading on eInk.
As far as LCD screens go the one on the Nook HD is quite good.
