I don't really think it's unreasonable for existing prime members, without whom the show Transparent never would have been successful (only Prime members could watch it), to expect to get on a big discount because of the success of said show.
Or another way of putting it, it's kind of a slap in the face of all those who made this possible.
Especially after the farce that was "Prime Day" back in July.
Amazon could have been smarter about this and done the big discount for new members and offered existing ones a smaller discount for renewing early. It would have kept everyone happy.
