The K3 checks, but does nothing about, the battery ID.
It is known that you can run them on even 'normal' (two terminal) external Li-Ion batteries.
There should even be some posts around here by people who did it.
Although hooking up a three pack of "A" size batteries should not require a U-Tube video.
