I don't know what kind of books you're reading, but if they're anything like the books we have for software development, they have a huge margin, top, bottom and on the side. Just by cropping those margins, I found that those PDF books are not too bad to read on an 6" reading device. An 6.8" or larger would naturally be even better. I wouldn't personally try to convert PDF to epub, especially not for that kind of books where page layout generally is very important (graphs, tables, images...)
