If I remember correctly (correct me if I'm wrong) the slowness on 3.15.0 was only noticeable with ePubs. Since I convert all my books via the Calibre Kobo Utilities plug-in to kePub when sending them to my Kobo AuraHD, I don't have a problem with slowness. The main reason I haven't updated the firmware yet is because I like the way I've got the patches configured and don't really want to go through that process again.
