I read War of Honor earlier this year and while I enjoyed it I certainly agree with PDurrant's assessment, paraphrased, that it is "a 400 page book in an 800 page wrapper." I think you could skip this one without missing too much if it becomes too much of a slog for you. Wikipedia or the Honorverse Wiki both have good summaries to get you caught up before moving on in the series (spoilers in links: 1, 2).
