Here's the basic plot about this short story, which appeared in
Hearst's International, 1925:
"John and Edith Andros spoil their little daughter in ‘The Baby Party’. They need an unpleasant experience to learn what parenthood really consists of. They learn that a child is not there for parents to show that they are better than their neighbours."
