As mentioned earlier, z4root fails on my PE. It pops up a screen saying Debug mode must be on, but the Debug PW given elsewhere seems to be specific to the EE and does nothing on my device.

I found a program called Universal Androot that runs on device, and it claims to have successfully rooted the PE. Unfortunately, the machine hangs and requires a pinhole reset when trying to actually do anything afterward. (I chose temporary root that goes away after a reboot as a precaution.) I used v1.62 beta 5.

Has anyone else tried this program with a PE and had success?

Update: Just temporarily rooted again to test something, and this time, no issues with hanging. I have no idea what's going on. Holding off on permanent root till after upgrading to Ermine.
