I really like my HD 6. I don't think it's slow at all. But I have less than 50 books and few apps on it.
$49 for a 7 in is tempting, but my old original Fire 7 in is still working, although the battery has lost some life. I use the 7 in. for web surfing and the 6 in. for reading books.
