Check the filtering on the router, seems odd it would block mail logon.

Can you send/receive mail to and from your gmx account via regular means. If you can, try both a desktop client and via the gmx web mail interface.

If you got the router from your ISP (Telekom.de ?) then you might want to contact them - they may have 'tweaked' the router.
