And, here's where the real paradox exists. The only reason that the Council of Total Assholes can monitor any of my internet activity is because I am entirely transparent on the internet. I sign my own name to my opinions. I don't think I've used a handle other than my own name more than twice in 25 years.

I don't use email for anything sensitive; I think the PATRIOT act makes all our email accessible. Of course, that's so much email that the odds of any individual posting being scrutininzed are small, but I think there are bells that go off when words like "bomb" and "Allah" are detected (hi guys and gals, just playing).
I don't like using my real name online, but since writing the book, I've had to develop my public persona. But I use secure Web sites and have a separate private email address. Basically, every time you send email, you shouldn't say anything you wouldn't want to see scrawled on a bathroom wall.
