pocket / wifi / unwanted updates
I've recently rediscovered pocket, and worry about connecting to Wi-Fi: I DON'T want unwanted updates since I need access to French dictionaries, so have downgraded to 3.15 where I wish to remain until this is solved - which I very much fear will be never considering Kobo's apparent disdain for French speaking users.
I vaguely remember there is a patch somewhere for this but can't find it, and anyway patching frightens me some. So presently, I only connect to Wi-Fi when close to my computer, for the short time needed to update pocket, and check the .kobo file for unwanted F/W downloads. Up to now (a half dozen connections) there hasn't been, but it is complicated. Has anyone ever had a problem with this, or does Kobo need enough time to spy my device and download a F/W that it is no problem? Or is there a way to specify wifi access to pocket only?
BTW, I recommend the London Review of Books online archive with many very interesting articles open to everybody, and Jenny Diski's papers, notably those about her relationship with Doris Lessing, which are what I went to the LRB for.
