IPad Pro is 713g. IPad Air 2 is 437g. Surface Pro 3 is 800g, Surface 3 is 622g. So the IPP isn't going to help much for weight if that's your concern.

I'd say that was an issue with the that particular demo device. I have a Surface 3 and my pen works great and no significant skipping. It will show where the cursor will be when the pen is suspended over the screen, but mine won't write unless it's touching, and in fact requires slight pressure on contact with the screen, not just contact.
