Not if you use "on device" updates; it only uses the amount of space required for the delta. Eg, the most recent update from 8.4 to 8.4.1 was only about 40MB in size, if memory serves me correctly? It's only if you download the whole thing via iTunes that it needs loads of space.

"Must add"? Why "must" they add this? iPads have never had a memory card slot. What on Earth makes you think they're going to add one now, especially given the focus on Cloud storage?
