I won't talk about work as I have a business laptop, we only upgraded to W7 last year, but for me my hobby is reading and reviewing books for a blog. I used to use my ipad for the reviews and type them using pages but the real issue was the posting.I need at least four browser sessions open at the same time, with no refreshing and the ipad just didn't work. Plus I really wanted calibre on a tablet for converting and editing books as I never know what format I'm going to get.
For me the Surface is a much better device and the 10.8 of the 3 is big enough, if I need a bigger screen I have an external monitor at home that I use for work. Plus I have a Bluetooth mouse. I still have an ipad but it's the mini 2, but Tbh I use my Kindke fire 7 more.
