Right, at the moment it's done in software but with the i.mx7 the new EPD built in the cpu is going to be able to do it directly via the cpu,not render in software.
It will bring the biggest change to ereader's going forward however when an android reader will ship with one is anyone's guess...the i.mx7 might make it into the new top end kindle voyage at the end of the year but pretty sure it won't be available to everyone else until late 2016.
Honestly how people put up with current android ereader is beyond me...i tried and really wanted an e ink based android device but their so clunky it's unreal...i have hope for the next generation of devices though.
