I see something quite similar, the device seems to freeze at arbitrary times. Sending the device to sleep with the cover or the button does work, but the screen will not react to any touch. Only switching the device off and on again will rectify this behavior. I did not need to use the reset, though.
This behavior occurred in 3.11/12 as well, but was not present in 3.15.
