Note on the reviews if there are under 15 reviews and it is a 5 star book, look at the reviews.

Yep. I use now 20 ratings or under--I think that any less than 20 is going to give an unreliable rating. If it doesn't have 20 or more at Amazon, I check GoodReads for the ratings there, and put in my post what I find out.
If I can't come up with 20 ratings or more--pretty much regardless of the number of stars or whatever--I usually will look at one or more reviews (usually the bad ones, if there are any), including ones at GoodReads.
If I can't come up with a total of 20 ratings from all sources, that doesn't necessarily doom the ebook. I just look at other things that might indicate quality, that I otherwise wouldn't scrutinize, and then make my best judgment.
If I post an ebook, you can be sure that I have vetted it and have come away strongly feeling that it is high quality (if there is any question in my mind, I'll let peeps know, as I did with the cookbook above). I feel like I'm saving everyone else the "legwork" of finding out for themselves. But I don't do it totally out of magnanimity--many of these ebooks are ones that I am considering for myself. ha
