Personally: Yes. But, for you, it depends on what you want.

Yes and no. Exactly what can be hacked, needs to be hacked and what is known how to hack changes with each firmware. In general, the most popular and easy hacks are sorted out in a couple of days of the release of the firmware. But some take more time.

Without sorting through all the firmware releases since 3.14.0 and compiling a list of the changes, I can't say. I could possibly list the highlights from memory, but, I would then get someone posting that it wasn't a highlight. As there is a list of known changes for each firmware near the start of the thread discussing the firmware, I will leave it as an "exercise to the reader" to look at the threads and read the changes to see what you like.

Having said that:

You have the latest Kobo device and are a new user. Let the device update and use that as the base for your future comparisons.
