In normal operation, there is only one **persistent** writable place in the tree: /var/local.
Well, other than the storage you see over USB - and I assume you looked there already.
If it doesn't go away with a system restart (long press of power button > 20 seconds) - then it is somewhere in /var/local.
Its name should make it obvious.
