Not just Boox, all e-ink screens seem rather, on the fragile side. The larger devices like the 8 " Boox I86 HD ML +, even more so. Remembering all e-ink devices use a glass substrate, apart from the A4 Sony reader, which has a plastic substrate. And it's not toughened Gorilla Glass either, just normal fragile glass, so pressure on the screen knocking & dropping from any kind of height onto a hard surface are all likely to be terminal for the e-ink screens on these devices.

I keep all my e-ink readers in cases, with hard screen protectors at all times. I never leave my devices in vehicles where they can be exposed to extremes of temperatures, so far, crossed fingers, they are all OK....
