For Bujold, I'd actually recommend the Chalion books rather than The Sharing Knife. (Sharing Knife starts out as awesome adventure fantasy in book one, but moves strongly toward traditional romance / literary fiction in the later books.)
My personal favorite on the heroic fantasy front is Brandon Sanderson, especially the Mistborn books and The Way of Kings. Elizabeth Moon's Paksenarrion series is also very good.
