@Tanjamuse - indeed, when a Book is copied/moved the Author rows from Authors table in the current library are NOT copied to the destination library. Consequently one loses the Author Link and Author Sort field - the latter only matters if it was manually adjusted as in "St. John, Stephen"

For procedural reasons I always punch my Evernote links into the Author table in my "Final" libraries, so that's why I never noticed this.

However, it does explain why I've sometimes found myself scratching my head saying "I'm sure I fixed that Author Sort field", I do that 'fix' in my "Import" library. But they are few in number so I've just shrugged thinking - "Must have forgot to click OK" and 'fixed' it again.

Suggest you post a a request in Bugs : calibre requesting that when a book is moved or copied to another library and an Author does not exist in the destination library that it be created from the Author in the current library so as to preserve the Author Sort and Author Link fields. Let me know if you do, and I'll 'me too' it.

I'm surprised this hasn't come up in respect of the Author Sort field.

<rant>Maybe not many in the Anglosphere read authors with 'funny' names or they habitually hyphenate double barrelled names because some media celebrity says its OK do do so - even tho' their own family name hasn't been hyphenated for the last 250+ years.</rant>
