From what I've read in other thread, horizontal or vertical lines are due to some kind of defective screen contact with the motherboard, whereas diagonal lines are related to fractured screen somehow caused by user, thus not covered by warranty. I live in Portugal and my Kobo was sent to Canada (i guess) for evaluation. A week later FNAC contacted me and gave me a new Kobo.
