In case I vanish from this forum, there seems to be a sinister plot to kill me at home ...

This morning, as I emerged half-asleep onto the back stairs down to the driveway, my brain registered - JUST IN TIME - that there was a large something hanging motionless in the air in front of me - with no visible means of support ....

I slowly backed up to the landing and focused on the something .... it was a large spider suspended in the middle of a huge web she had strung from the branches of a pine tree down to fill the span between the 2 stair rails. Fortunately, I had left a broom on the landing and wielded it to clear my way down to the car.

Whew!

So, tonight after dinner, I needed to take the trash bag down the back steps ... opened the back door ... AND THERE SHE WAS ... swaying at the end of a thread at head height .. dangling from the top of the door frame! Blocking my access to the broom!

I seized the long handled dryer vent brush and once again removed the menace ... over the rail (I hope) to the ground.

What will be waiting for me tomorrow morning?
