The hardware (CPU and GPU-wise) of the Samsung is definitely better for gaming and video but that is not going to help boost Nook sales whereas the premium price, at a time of declining Android tablet sales and growing sales of cheap WinTabs, isn't going to bring in new readers into the Nook garden.
Most of their hardware sales today are looking to be to their commited Nook customer base so, seriously, how many existing Nook HD and HD+ owners are going to drop $400 on a replacement? How is this thing going to sell more ebooks?
Now, the move might make sense if B&N started selling Samsung high-end TVs and BluRay players and were moving to compete with Magnolia but otherwise...?
