From what I have read, any of the kobos will be good choices for epub format. I just ordered a h2o because of this capability (my library is mainly epubs from nook). I know it is possible to convert books and have done so in the past. The kobo can read epub and mobi so it's one less thing to worry about. Also, barnes and noble is releasing a new nook soon so that would be another device to check out. I love my NST w glowlight the physical buttons on the side are such a nice feature to have. So to sum up, it sounds like the new nook, kobo glo hd, aura, or new kobo touch 2.0 for your needs. If you can get the kobo mini cheaply I would definitely recommend doing so. This would let you see what kobo software is like, and it never hurts to have a backup device.
Just thought I'd give my 2c.
