Groan. Does it always have to be Shakespeare when fanboys like a writer?
Don't get me wrong. I'm a great admirer of Pratchett's, and - contrary to Harry - I've re-read some of
his books, while I don't intend ever to re-read LOTR (once was nice, but totally sufficient for me).
I also think that Pratchett is a lot deeper than some seem to give him credit for. He has a way of raising philosophical and moral questions that can really make you think if you are so inclined. He is also very funny. But all his books follow the same formula, and once you've read a few, you usually know what to expect. It's genre fiction, even if Pratchett created his own genre. It's as great as genre fiction gets, and that is much greater than a lot of Literature with a capital L, but it ain't Shakespeare. Srsly.
