I have the latest Kindle for PC (1.12.2 40996) installed and have tested with three books, all of which are KFX on my PW2. They all were delivered in the older format, compatible with calibre and the "tools", using Kindle for PC.

I think that whoever stated that K4PC uses KFX was mistaken.
