Worth bearing in mind, perhaps, that the Nobel Prize for Literature is almost always awarded as a "Lifetime Achievement" award, rather than for a specific book. The fact that Gabriel García Márquez was awarded the Nobel Prize means that many people think he was a decent writer. Of course that doesn't mean that you, I, or anyone else has to find his books enjoyable.
