Yes. There is a translation file for the interface that is embedded into Sigil, that is why you get the UI in german. If you want the spelling checker to use German, you need to supply the language files. The easiest way would be downloading these from OpenOffice. You need the .oxt file, which you can extract. From the extracted .oxt file, you need the .aff and .dic file if I am not mistaken. In the Sigil settings you can see where you need to place the files.
