I regularly read around 9-10 books per month. Whenever we take a long trip in the car, I'll typically read more books. (It's a combination of not having to work and being away from the Internet.) So far, I've read 15 books in December and I expect to finish one or two more before midnight on New Year's Eve. In addition to the length of the book, there's also the "readability" factor. Some books are just easier to breeze right through than others, even if they're relatively long in terms of number of pages or number of words. I rarely read short stories, though I've read two science fiction short story collections this year.
