I am hardly an authority, tubemonkey, but for my part, I would also have held out for the actual word. So, no, the plural wouldn't have won since it wasn't exactly your I Spy word.
I think the offering of clues is pretty fluid, usually I give confirmation on correct letter and placement and maybe some general but vague helpful hint if progress seems quite stalled. Your clues and reminders seemed spot on to me, but others can chime in with their understanding of the game. So far, the I Spy police haven't flagged me  |
