When I was in college in the late eighties I ordered a copy of Robert Service's first autobiography "Ploughman Of The Moon" (which had been out of print since 1957) from a specialty shop near the university. A copy came in...after the first Gulf War.
Today I can get a copy from an online retailer or a used bookstore that is part of a network in a few days.
