Stripping series info on import

Is it possible to automatically strip the series info when adding books? I looked through the prefs for adding books, but the closest solution I could see was trying to match a regex from the file name. Unfortunately, the file names I have don't have the series info in them.

For example, whenever I download fanfic books from ffn, the series info always shows up as book 1 of the original fiction series (ie every HP fanfic downloaded and imported has series metadata "book 1 of Harry Potter"). I would like to have all series info stripped out when I import any books and wondered if anyone knows of a solution to do this. Thanks for any instructions or links to any threads that helps solve this.
