It isn't needed.. you need one time wifi to setup the device, if really no wifi, go to a public point just once, or use tethering at your phone like already suggested in the other topic.. ( I don't know what the wifi setup will do if there really is no wifi because all the device needed is on the flashdrive) and then use as desktop software the program Calibre, that is there for Linux to..once installed you would never feel the urge again to switch over for a Kobo desktop Program.
