When you use Microsoft Update check for updates ( <=W7), you get a list of proposed updates if you choose CUSTOM with tick boxes
(Remember the Start Button type Logic)
Click the Plus next to the description of KB item

Now you see a NEW Tick box at the bottom of the summary

Click Install Updates (remember 'Start' ) Note: the count of available updates went down


Options (in the list on the Left): Restore Hidden updates
if you oops'd or changed your mind
