I recommend Dark Horse by Michelle Diener. (Not written in 1st person) It's also available free right now on Kindle Unlimited

FizzyWater - I would add 'Susan Kearney Rystani Warrior series' to your "Don't Bother With" section. I would very much NOT recommend them. I still have dents in my wall from throwing the books across the room.
