For any database, the care and feeding of the metadata is essential to being able to look up what you want. I try to keep up as I add books, but periodically I update in mass when I come up with need search needs.
For example, for Corfu (wonderful island btw, spent 4 weeks on it one summer vacationing in Europe on "$5/day) -- I would list in the metadata "Corfu, fiction, island, Europe, travel, Mediterranean", etc. The more the *accurate* metadata, the easier to find what you want.
