Welcome John. I agree with you -- a book is essential in a restaurant. I also read in the movie theatre while waiting for the feature to start; whenever I'm waiting in line; when traveling, etc. In addition to a book (or book reader), I carry a flashlight. With your eBookwise unit, you won't need the flashlight.

Well, it's not the wireless that might give away what you are reading -- it's your sales cart and purchase history at one or more of the book stores. Unlike walking into a brick-and-mortar book store, you can't buy anonymously. (Cash is really cool for keeping your identity secret.) With the Kindle, for example, you don't have to turn on the wireless at all.
So, check out the very large number of books that have been uploaded here at MobileRead. If you're into science fiction and fantasy, Baen.com offers over 50 free novels and hundreds more for purchase. The Wiki here at MobileRead can point you to even more sources for electronic books.
Welcome to MobileRead.
