Hello. When I was growing up, I loved reading -- I was the sort to get detention for reading under the desk in class*, and have my family punishment be to "sit in the living room, and
don't read!"
After finishing high school, I became involved in hobbies that provided more instant gratification, or in which I was less of a passive observer (tabletop RPG, video games, cinema, instruments), and my reading has really fallen on the wayside; I can't think of a book I've read in the past three years!
So I've "permanently borrowed" a friend's old Kindle Keyboard that he never uses, in the hopes that the instant availability of ebooks will re
kindle my love of reading. After all, I never stopped loving sci-fi and fantasy, or superheroes. I just pursued them in different ... formats.
So I've joined GoodReads to motivate me to buy new books, and MobileRead to remind me to pick up my Kindle every day. I'm currently reading
Hyperion by Dan Simmons.
(* Why do they let you read in detention, if you're in detention
for reading?)
