I don't use any Apple products, but I *think* 2 GB RAM should be fine.

unix operating systems like OSX and linux tend to be much lighter on system resources than, say, Windows 7.


I have been happily running calibre on ArchLinux on an ancient Dell with 2 GB RAM.
Kindle for PC running in WINE (Windows emulation compatibility layer) runs fine too -- though I usually just use my E-Ink Kindle.
