Avant Nation was excellent. It was fast paced and easy, but did not lack depth. As far as dystopian novels go, this is one of the better ones. I think one of the descriptions of the book labelled it as suspense, but I think horror is a more appropriate genre. While the book was not at all gruesome or spooky, it was a little too real for comfort. The world that Verhoff creates is entirely possible, especially given the advances in technology today. Avant Nation deals with genetic engineering, creating an extreme juxtaposition between Avantica and L.U.D. It brings so many questions of morality and ethics to the surface . . . I'm hoping there will be a sequel because it can't just end, the story was too enthralling! ~Amazon Reviewer
