It's one of those "cutomer-centric" things they seem fascinated with -- why make a customer go through pointless click-work to claim the lower price?
Are you quite sure? Not trying to nitpick, but did it happen to you that a preorder item went down due to this? I know if you have items in cart saved for later you get a notification that something changed price up or down. I don't remember seeing the price of Aeronaut's Windlass to go down - unless my 11.84 price is the minimum it was and has not went down ever below it.
