Testing the codes does not null them in my experience either recently or in the past. If the code works when you 'test' it and then doesn't at another time then, if it's a Contest code, it's because of the Contest stuff up.
My very recent experience of testing a non Contest 90% code did not cause that code not to work at a later time.
