I'm to sad and disappointed to be honest to buy something else... I was just looking at other brands... I'm gonna wait until non-breakable e-ink devices come on the market.
the 6 inch is just to little for pdf's and besides that Kindle offers no epub support and less features.
so... I'm a bit stucked right now. Only escape is for Kobo higher ups to whom my complaint was forwarded to offer me a discount (since they wont replace the screen even on my expense) for another 6.8'' device (this is a minimum for pdf in my opinion)...
in whatever case, I wont take it out from my room, no matter what... at least not until plastic replaces glass...
Later edit: though I left it in the car, it was in a cover, but I think on the Aura HD, even if its HD, they've put cheap parts, at least compared to the 6'' Aura. Its not HQ - high quality, it's HD - high definition (of the screen). Now, what use I have now for a HD? But I could've had for a HQ
check this: "Mark 4 Hardware: Aura HD/Glo and TouchLC (Low Cost -N905C Model)." This IS what it is, a LOW cost model.

even though the glass substrate is thin in eink screen technology, from what it happened to me and to others, I definetely can say that my Aura HD was much more sensible since a bit of temperature difference, not a higher one, cracked the screen. This is not a frustrated owner's conclusion but what I could put together from forums. It happened to other but with much bigger temp diff.
