Yeah, it came back up.....still wasn't able to get any details from MS, but a couple of things.
on my desktop, in addition to the update notification, it notified me to 'Get Office' grrrrrr!
(I've got a legit 2010 version installed)
and
on my laptop where I have a MS Word 'Starter' version it popped up a message saying something about 'If this program is not working correctly run 'repair' in your settings' .... What???
Seems they are really pushing this Office thing....
