It's been many, many years since I read any Shannara books and I'd quite like to revisit the series. As the Elfstones are the starting point for the series, is this a good book to begin reading too? Will I miss out on much by skipping to this book? I can't really remember that much about the stories.

To me all the books have a similar feel to them, I don't think you would go wrong starting with Elfstones, then maybe go to First King.
