I only have one device (not counting a broken Kobo Touch I got for 1€ off ebay) so I can't test it myself but they should be transferrable for the most part, if the firmware version of the source device is not higher than the target device. There may be some little details lurking though...

endless reboot loop is sickel's worst case, but you can also get random reboots at unexpected times, whenever the reader hits something that took a while to process.
It happened to me while browsing the library (when it had to generate thumbnail images for books), while trying to switch Kobo accounts [it seems it waited for a reply from Kobo server but rebooted instead], in a book while using dictionary (albeit I was experimenting with a patched Japanese dictionary there so may not be representative), ...
If you have some way to trigger the reset button manually & do not suffer from real system freezes? then you can probably disable this feature. Right now it seems to cause more problems instead of solving any.
